burrp! – revisit

We have covered this one Indian startup the most on emergintex, just because we feel it is driven by people who are passionate about what they are doing. Another reason is that burrp! promises to be one of the first startups which was seeded in the west (US) and executed back in India, by young professionals. It could be a trendsetter for many other young entrepreneurs who will follow burrp!’s lead and get us more, interesting startups in India.

Coming back to burrp!, we have been folowing the startup closely, and it has shown rapid growth from one city at the time of launch to 3 metros now ( mumbai, bangalore, kolkata). All 3 locations are completely driven by local user base, which is one of the driving factor for success of burrp! Last I was in touch with the founders, we have heard that burrp! has solid plans to integrate with local business’ to generate & share revenue. At the moment you can send the details for a local restaurant (or a bar, or a club, or a cafe…) to your phone as an Text Message. Some direct ways of giving the users some discount at a featured establishment is still missing (or I am not looking at the right place), which I would love to see. This would bring the establishments more closer to the web model and both the parties involved can share revenue.

As evident on the burrp! blog, it seems that the team is full of energy and ideas, and is expanding at a good rate. some new & upcoming changes are also in pipeline. We were lcuky to have some sneak peek screenshots of upcoming design changes to the service.

The new layout promises more organized views of your favorite establishments. The picture preview section has been moved to the right to give more organized view.

The listing view has been organized so that you can send the details to your phone right from the listing view, instead of going to the details view for an establishment. On the left side, neat lists of options are now available to narrow your search, to find your taste quickly!

We do hope that burrp! expands rapidly and brings in exciting integration with the local hot-spots to gather much more user base.
