As everyone today is focussing on networked social applications, the instant messaging guys are not left behind. We have seen a number of IM services mashed up under one client (Meebo), we are seeing changes in MSN (Messenger Live), which brings in your content into the IM landscape. Today most of these services provide one to one communication, except for some where you can start a Group Conversation or a Conference.
Tangler, promises to change the Group Conversation landscape by introducing what they call ‘Instant Grouping’, instead of Instant Messaging. At the moment we have to wonder what capabilities Tangler would have, but I can think of the service as a social application where you create your groups of people , and be able to communicate with a one or more group in a easy way. ‘Instant’ would give me ideas that you do not want to do a redundant task of sending the same communication to all the members in a group, but rather one action would update all the members in a group.
It can be a good tool to keep your Friends and Family updated and it would rock if the service supports some kind of content sharing too within the members of a group.
Would this be a chat application? Would I be able to do “Instant Sharing”, as I would love to call it, we have to wait a little bit more to answer these questions. Tangler, as Martin tells me, had been in development since last 18 months, so I assume something rocking is coming up ! Meanwhile you can leave your email here to get updates about the service.
